Our second visit to DW Stadium, supporting a new cohort of U18 players at Wigan Athletic Academy — some already knocking on the door of first-team football, others experiencing life away from home for the first time.
Before we got into it, we did what felt right and explored a Wigan Kebab… check it out 👀

The workshops were youth-led and conversation-driven, focusing on gambling in the digital age. We unpacked the heavy involvement of gambling sponsorship in sport, how it shapes culture within teams, and the real risks this creates for young players growing up in always-on, online environments.
The boys left the room with a clearer understanding of how to spot early signs of gambling harm — in themselves and in others — and the confidence to question what’s become normalised around them.

"Our young men, who represent our Academy, live in a digital age that poses many challenges - in particular, the message that gambling is okay and a natural part of life. Whether that be on their phones, promotions via social media, adverts online or on TV, they face a constant temptation daily"
