Recovery is rarely a straight line—and not everyone feels safe or understood in traditional support settings.
We offer one-to-one support delivered by people with lived experience of addiction. This service empowers individuals to open-up, take the first step, and receive guidance from someone who truly gets it—without judgment.
Every aspect of the programme is designed to empower individuals and show them that recovery is possible. Our ultimate aim is to help each recoveree achieve their goals, reinforcing that they are not alone and that life without addiction is within reach.
Each individual will start a fully personalised programme based on their lifestyle, goals & personal circumstance.
My name is Aaron Abbott, and from leaving school up until 3 years and 7 months ago, I struggled with a compulsive gambling addiction—hiding its impact from those around me for over a decade.
CONOR MARTIN
Despite these challenges, I built a successful 12-year career in recruitment, earning well and securing multiple promotions. However, after hitting rock bottom in 2021, I put aside my pride and the stigma surrounding addiction and finally sought help. With the support of family, friends, and professionals, I started my recovery journey. Six months in, I realised I had lost over £250,000 to gambling. Reflecting on the lack of gambling education in the UK and the aggressive tactics used by the industry, I decided to create Against The Odds Education & Awareness CIC (ATO)—a platform to share my story and help others.
