Against The Odds Joins Leicester’s Gambling Harms Strategy Development Group

We’re proud to announce that Against The Odds Education & Awareness CIC has been invited to join the Leicester Gambling Harms Strategy Development Group — a collaborative initiative shaping a local response to gambling-related harms across the city.

We’re proud to announce that Against The Odds Education & Awareness CIC has been invited to join the Leicester Gambling Harms Strategy Development Group — a collaborative initiative shaping a local response to gambling-related harms across the city.

Led by Leicester City Council’s Public Health team, this group brings together key voices from mental health, suicide prevention, children and young people’s services, substance misuse, homelessness, primary care, and the criminal justice system — along with those with lived experience of gambling harm.

The group’s work is rooted in a recent Gambling Harms Needs Assessment, which identifies the unique challenges facing Leicester’s communities. By participating, we’ll help ensure prevention, early intervention, and lived experience are at the heart of Leicester’s new local strategy — one that aligns with the wider National Strategy to Reduce Gambling Harms.

We welcome Leicester City Council’s commitment to embedding prevention and education in its revised Gambling Policy — and we’re excited to contribute meaningfully to the process.

At Against The Odds, we’ve always believed that change starts locally. This opportunity allows us to amplify our impact in Leicester and work alongside other passionate professionals committed to a healthier, more informed future.

Together, we can challenge harmful narratives — and build a system that works for communities, not industry profits.
