Against The Odds has built a strong partnership with Loughborough College, supporting primarily 18-year-old students in their blended HNC Sport programme. These students come from football academies across the UK, many progressing from the BTEC Sport pathway. Our workshops go beyond the basics, helping students see how gambling is deeply woven into elite sport and the real risks it brings. For many young athletes, gambling messages are everywhere—on shirts, in ads, and across social media—making betting feel like just part of the game. Without clear guidance, it’s easy to miss when gambling habits turn harmful. Financial pressures and endorsements from top athletes can make gambling seem like a simple way to connect with sport, but it often undermines wellbeing, education, and future ambitions. As the link between sport and betting grows, giving students practical tools and honest insight is more important than ever.
